Beneath the Haze: Draft 3 is Finished!

The third draft of Beneath the Haze, my latest fantasy novel, is finished! At this point I’ve sent it to my two favorite beta readers: my wife and my mother. I know they’ll give me all kinds of unbiased feedback because they have no emotional connection to the author whatsoever.

In other news, I’m open to others reading this as well. As long as you know it’s still not finished and are willing to give me feedback, you may very well get a chance to read it before anyone else (besides my wife and mother, of course). Here’s what I have for a synopsis:

The toxic Haze has blanketed the Talesha Valley for centuries. Killing anyone who would venture into its depths, the Haze suffocates and snuffs out all life below the Peaks, the mountain range encircling the valley. Those who live on the Peaks remember the stories of the Sky Swimmers, an ancient fighting force that could channel the wind with such power that they could even soar with the birds. Now, the Sky Swimmers no longer exist, and those who can channel the wind lack the skill and power as those of old.

After a decade of studying the Haze, Sharme has finally completed a working prototype of a filter mask that will allow him to breathe while submerged in the misty, toxic depths of the Taleshan Valley. While some call this a scientific victory, Sharme’s only goal is to find a way to piece his broken life back together. With nothing alive in the valley, his only fears are his failures.

That’s a very basic premise of the story. This is the first book in a trilogy, and I outlined the next two books before I started writing this one (go me!). I’m looking forward to finding new beta readers, getting feedback, and perfecting this story as much as humanly possible. Obviously I love the story (I wouldn’t have written it otherwise), but I’m confident you will as well.

Oh, side note. Have you heard the news? I’m freelance editing now! If you (or anyone you know) needs an edit (copyedit or line edit), check out my services here. I’d love to work on your project with you!
